{"id":47506,"date":"2026-03-17T18:21:27","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T15:21:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mk.gen.tr\/reso-and-cmls-end-talks-to-form-new-combined-group\/"},"modified":"2026-03-17T18:21:27","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T15:21:27","slug":"reso-and-cmls-end-talks-to-form-new-combined-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mk.gen.tr\/tr\/reso-and-cmls-end-talks-to-form-new-combined-group\/","title":{"rendered":"RESO and CMLS end talks to form new combined group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After nearly a year of exploration and discussions, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/reso-fills-2026-board-seats-taps-new-executive-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Real Estate Standards Organization<\/a> <\/strong>(RESO) and the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/cmls-2026-board-announcement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Council of MLSs<\/a> <\/strong>(CMLS) have made the shared decision to not move forward in plans to form a new combined organization.<\/p>\n<p>The organizations announced the decision in a joint statement on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decision reflects a disciplined evaluation of how best to serve our respective missions\u00a0and the broader real estate marketplace,\u201d the organizations wrote in their statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the organizations, over the past year, leaders from both RESO and CMLS \u201cengaged in meaningful dialogue about how advocacy, standards and industry\u00a0leadership might be brought together in new ways.\u201d Despite finding areas where the organizations strongly aligned, leaders also recognized the structural and governance hurdles they would be required to overcome to move forward, ultimately deciding that these changes did not currently support the creation of a single new entity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In spite of this conclusion, the organizations said the conversations and work leaders undertook during this process were valuable, as they highlighted the individual strengths of the organizations and they \u201creinforced the importance of intentional governance, clear mission\u00a0alignment and thoughtful stewardship of industry institutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth RESO and CMLS remain deeply committed to advancing a strong and collaborative real\u00a0estate ecosystem,\u201d the organizations wrote in their joint statement. \u201cWe will continue our long-standing partnership, working together where\u00a0our missions align to strengthen data standards, support MLS organizations and promote\u00a0innovation across the marketplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, the organizations said they hope to continue to collaborate in ways that \u201cbest serve MLSs, brokers, technology partners and\u00a0the real estate marketplace as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Originally created as a <strong>National Association of Realtors <\/strong>(NAR) working group in 2002, RESO became an independent non-profit focused on developing data standards and processes that create efficiencies for all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/its-complicated-brokers-talk-navigating-the-mls-relationship-at-cmls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">real estate transaction participants<\/a>. CMLS was formed in 1957 as a regional MLS council consisting of three MLSs in Washington state.
