Its GAAP operating loss also narrowed to $5.1 million in Q1 2026, compared to a loss of $8 million in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/blend-talks-rocket-mr-cooper-deal-will-exit-title-biz\/\">same period last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/tag\/nima-ghamsari\/\">Nima Ghamsari<\/a> told analysts on Thursday that the company \u201ccame in higher on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/matt-thomson-joins-blend\/\">revenue<\/a> and non-GAAP operating income than expected.\u201d Blend also signed 15 new deals and delivered a pipeline increase of more than 40% year over year as of the end of March.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut the world has shifted underneath us in those two months: increased global conflict, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/inflation-fears-mortgage-rates\/\">inflation<\/a>, and rising mortgage rates. That leads me to be a little conservative in the short-term numbers,\u201d Ghamsari said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/company-profile\/blend-labs-inc\/\">Blend<\/a>\u2019s total revenue for the first quarter was $30.8 million, up 15% year over year. Breaking down the business lines, software platform revenue reached $28 million (up 15%), while professional services revenue accounted for $2.9 million (up 16%).<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s Mortgage Suite performed particularly well, generating $17.2 million in revenue \u2014 an 18% year-over-year increase. Funded loans on the platform reached 187,000, surging 29% from the previous year, with the economic value per funded loan landing at $84.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Autopilot and Background Agents<\/h2>\n<p>A major highlight for the quarter was the March launch of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/blend-autopilot-mortgage\/\">Blend Autopilot<\/a>, an artificial intelligence-based agent for mortgage lenders. As of Monday, 65 lenders had activated the tool, with 22 running it live in production. The agent has already processed more than 7,000 applications during its preview phase, and the company plans to introduce paid tiers starting in June.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe paid tiers are where the full product lives \u2014 what we call <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/tag\/underwriting\/\">underwriting<\/a> intelligence \u2014 where Autopilot is reading the documents, taking real action on the loan file, running calculations, reconciling its guidelines, and driving the work forward,\u201d Ghamsari said. \u201cOver time, our intent is to move the paid tiers of Autopilot to a per funded loan model, just like the rest of our mortgage suite.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Internally, Blend is also reaping the benefits of AI. The rollout of its internal Background Agents has boosted engineering productivity by more than 150% in 2026 compared to 2025, based on the number of pull requests generated by the team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTogether, I believe these two pillars (Autopilit and Blackground Agents) give us a path to see 10% to 15% incremental growth already for us in 2027 on the top line, and more efficiency and speed as a company internally,\u201d Ghamsari said.<\/p>\n<p>Blend ended the quarter with $59 million in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/blend-now-debt-free-remains-confident-about-reaching-profitability-by-the-end-of-2024\/\">zero debt<\/a>. The company also repurchased 11.2 million shares during Q1. It estimates its 2025 market share at 17%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we look into 2026, we expect a market share headwind of 100 basis points, primarily reflecting the volume roll-off of one large customer that we have discussed previously,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/blend-labs-narrows-q2-losses-announces-new-head-of-finance\/\">Jason Ream<\/a>, the company\u2019s head of finance and administration. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the macro side, the spring housing market started on stronger footing than many had expected, supported by improving affordability and slowly rebuilding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/housing-inventory-pricing-gap-2026\/\">inventory<\/a>.
