{"id":49081,"date":"2026-04-20T19:19:52","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T16:19:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mk.gen.tr\/compass-takes-51-stake-in-peerage-sothebys-parent\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T19:19:52","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T16:19:52","slug":"compass-takes-51-stake-in-peerage-sothebys-parent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mk.gen.tr\/en\/compass-takes-51-stake-in-peerage-sothebys-parent\/","title":{"rendered":"Compass takes 51% stake in Peerage Sotheby\u2019s parent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Compass International Holdings<\/strong> (CIH), which owns <strong>Compass<\/strong>, <strong>Anywhere Real Estate<\/strong> and <strong>@properties Christie\u2019s International Real Estate<\/strong>, is taking majority control or 51% of the common equity of a parent company that will indirectly own some <strong>Sotheby\u2019s International Realty <\/strong>franchises.<\/p>\n<p>The Robert Reffkin-helmed firm disclosed this ownership change in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1563190\/000156319026000089\/comp-20260415.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a document<\/a> filed with the <strong>Securities and Exchange Commission <\/strong>(SEC) last Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The parent company entity that indirectly owns some of Sotheby\u2019s International Realty includes parts of Peerage, which is an investor in several Sotheby\u2019s International Realty franchises, including <strong>Jameson Sotheby\u2019s,<\/strong> <strong>Pacific Sotheby\u2019s<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/hw-member-spotlight-budge-huskey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Premier Sotheby\u2019s<\/strong><\/a>, as well as several funds managed by <strong>TPG Angelo Gordon<\/strong>. The companies said the deal is part of an attempt to rework existing debt tied to the predecessor of the parent company CIH is acquiring. However, the total amount of debt involved has not been disclosed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSotheby\u2019s International Realty, Inc. became an equity holder in several affiliated Peerage franchisees, reflecting its long\u2011term confidence in these businesses and their leadership in key markets across the U.S. and Canada,\u201d a CIH spokesperson told HousingWire in an email. Peerage and these brokerages continue to operate independently under their existing leadership and brand, in most cases as part of the Sotheby\u2019s International Realty network.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of the deal, some of the debt owed to Compass will be repaid over 30 months in installments. Additionally, as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1563190\/000156319026000089\/exhibit101-putagreementdat.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PUT agreement<\/a> included in the filing, TPG retains the right to force CIH to buy its ownership stake at any time, by paying a predetermined price in cash.
