The move was announced Friday on social media by NFM managing director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/winner-profile\/2024-vanguard-gregory-sher\/\">Greg Sher<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Crescenzo comes to NFM after a two-year stint as Southeast division manager for <strong>Nation One Mortgage Corp.<\/strong> His prior experience also includes roles as a producing branch manager for <strong>American Pacific Mortgage<\/strong> and <strong>Cardinal Financial<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Sher said in a <strong>LinkedIn<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/greg-sher\/recent-activity\/all\/\">post<\/a> that signing Crescenzo was a spur of the moment decision for both parties. Crescenzo reportedly met NFM President LaTasha Waddy at a recent <strong>Mortgage Bankers Association<\/strong> event and quickly became interested in joining NFM.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me, I fell head over heels for him when in our first meeting over dinner, he started welling up \u2014 real tears flowing \u2014 when sharing how he helped a single dad win a custody battle because he was able to help him buy a home,\u201d Sher wrote. \u201c\u2026 For every loan originator with an eye on cashing the biggest check, there are people like Phil whose real payoff is impact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Crescenzo told <strong>HousingWire<\/strong> that the \u201cNFM leadership, the technology and their team in all departments were very unique and very adaptable to bringing our branch vision to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to <strong>Modex<\/strong> data, Crescenzo closed 323 loans for roughly $107 million in volume over the past year. Most of his business took place in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/tag\/south-carolina\/\">South Carolina<\/a>, with additional activity in the Charlotte, Atlanta and Jacksonville areas. The bulk of his origination volume is tied to<strong> Federal Housing Administration<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/fha-premiums-loan-fees\/\">FHA<\/a>) and <strong>U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/va-partial-claim-rules\/\">VA<\/a>) loans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt very comfortable with the team, the products, the ability to compete with what we\u2019re already doing, which is being very dominant in the FHA and VA space,\u201d Crescenzo added.<\/p>\n<p>Sher told <strong>HousingWire<\/strong> that Crescenzo largely serves African-American borrowers and has \u201cbig aspirations to grow his impact,\u201d which NFM plans to help with through additional resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal is to use our product line and proprietary tech stack to help him grow into a division,\u201d Sher said. \u201cI believe he has the vision and drive to lead a billion dollar group. This journey begins today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NFM Lending \u2014 based in Linthicum, Maryland \u2014 announced an expansion in November when it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/nfm-lending-acquires-homespire-mortgage\/\">agreed to acquire<\/a> <strong>Homespire Mortgage<\/strong>. NFM\u2019s Bob Tyson told HousingWire at the time that the purchase was a win-win for both companies, allowing NFM to grow its \u201creach and resources,\u201d while giving Homespire \u201caccess to all the bells and whistles of a larger organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In January, NFM <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/latasha-waddy-nfm-lending-president\/\">announced<\/a> that Waddy would become its new president as Tyson moved into the CEO\u2019s role. Waddy has been with the company since 2010, previously servicing as executive vice president and chief legal officer.<\/p>\n<p>Inside Mortgage Finance reported that NFM was the 47th-largest U.S. mortgage lender in 2025.
