Union Home Mortgage brings on M&A veteran Renee Hildebrand
Union Home Mortgage (UHM) indicated a strong appetite for mergers and acquisitions by hiring Renee Hildebrand from Guild Mortgage to seek new opportunities, the company announced Tuesday.
The move comes a few years after the Strongsville, Ohio–based UHM, led by CEO Bill Cosgrove, acquired Amerifirst Home Mortgage. It also follows two additional acquisitions in 2025 of Houston-based Nations Reliable Lending and California-based Sierra Pacific Mortgage Co..
“Her level of expertise after interfacing with so many mortgage companies over her storied career will make a lasting impact on Union Home, and I am excited to see what the future holds with her on our team,” Cosgrove said in a statement.
Hildebrand, who will serve as national vice president of mergers and acquisitions, is tasked with identifying organizations that align culturally with Union Home Mortgage.
Prior to joining UHM, she was the vice president of mergers and acquisitions and strategic market growth at Guild, which was recently sold to Bayview Asset Management. She joined Guild through its acquisition of Academy Mortgage.
An industry veteran, Hildebrand has held senior leadership roles focused on growth through acquisitions, including involvement in 10 deals during her career. She also has experience in joint ventures, construction financing partnerships to serve the homebuilder community and organic market expansion, Union explained in a news release.
She previously worked at Cardinal Financial, Bay Equity Home Loans, Stearns Lending, Caliber Home Loans and Nationstar Mortgage.
“I truly believe that the right people make a world of difference, and that idea will be central to our strategy as we grow this company,” Hildebrand said.
Data from RETR shows Union Home Mortgage produced about $7 billion in sales volume over the past 12 months, most of it tied to conventional and purchase loans. The company had 858 sponsored loan officers across 204 active branches as of Tuesday, according to the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System.
